On May 28, 2016, a young child fell into Harambe’s enclosure. To protect the child, the zoo staff decided to shoot and kill Harambe, as they believed that the child’s life was in imminent danger.
While reading a recent post by Barack Obama here on Medium about his thoughts on the current conflict in Gaza, the story of Harambe the Gorilla flashed across my mind.
Let’s just address the elephant in the room.
What could we, should we, would we expect to happen when an irresponsible parent(s) allowed a vulnerable child to come into close proximity to a 400 lbs Gorilla?
And what could we, should we, would we expect to happen when Israel was placed in the middle of the Arab nations?
Please do not say this was for the sake of providing the Israeli people with a home.
Did the British government, and the subsequent ‘backbone’ to the Israeli government, namely the United States of America, think the Arab nations and Israel would hold hands and sing Kumbaya?
To make matters worse, the situation between Israel and the Arab nations back then, and now with the Palestinians for the past decades is a lot more complicated than a child…
